Should we give up or can we improve our quality of life?

 George Monbiot in The Guardian

https://www.monbiot.com/2022/04/03/organised-lying/

"Nearly everyone who appears in the media, across almost the entire political spectrum, seems to accept that economic growth can and should continue indefinitely on a finite planet. Almost all believe that we should take action to protect life on Earth only when it is cost-effective. Even then, we should avoid compromising the profits of legacy industries. They appear to believe that something they call “the economy” takes priority over our life support systems.

They further believe that the unhindered acquisition of enormous wealth by a few people is somehow acceptable."

I wrote a book to solve these problems. It is called A User Manual for Life on Earth and can be found here https://www.smashwords.com/books/view/1029328 and here https://read.amazon.com/kp/embed?asin=B094W8F28G&preview=newtab&linkCode=kpe&ref_=cm_sw_r_kb_dp_R8GS3QYNZDGHSG95CZDS and if you are in Cape Town, I can deliver a signed book to you in exchange for a cup of coffee and any questions you might have for the author.

What is humans highest priority?

Q1: What is a human's highest priority?

A1: To be alive in 3 minutes time.

Q2: What do we need to be alive in 3 minutes time?

A2: Clean, healthy, oxygenated, air.

Q3: And then, what is the next highest priority?

A3: To be healthy and alive and stress free with our cost of living going down and our quality of life going up; and then to go back to Q1.

Disablement by heart removal. David’s grand strategy series.

What do Ukraine, Israel, Serbia, Liesbeek in South Africa, have in common?

Please like, subscribe and share.

And comment. PS: TRUP is Two Rivers Urban Park in Cape Town, a site of ancient tribal and religious practice. The City of Cape Town, and the Western Cape Government, and the South African Government, call for its renewal by selling it to Amazon for Amazon’s African headquarters.

One should note that 90% of the original TRUP has already been developed and this tiny remaining section is the last part of South Africa’s heart.

Freedom to choose your transportation choice

 The "app taxi driver strike".

Can you believe these idiots?

https://ewn.co.za/2022/03/19/sa-s-e-hailing-drivers-promise-shutdown-of-major-routes-next-week

Regulation has destroyed the minibus taxi industry and given supreme decision making power to government who have created their own competitor to private industry. The regulator should NOT be in an industry.

People should have free choice where to work.

If they aren’t happy they should organize themselves (it is called a union and it negotiates on behalf of workers).

Everyone driving a taxi has volunteered to drive. No one has been forced or coerced. If a particular taxi company is sending its drivers into danger then those drivers should work for a different company.

There is competition. But there is no loyalty, either by the drivers or the taxi app owners.

And what are people like us, who have sold our cars and rely on taxis meant to do during the 3 days these drivers are on strike? It's the same question I ask when the bus drivers go on strike. If the buses are on strike, I find another alternative, taxis. If the taxis are on strike, maybe I buy a car, or a motorbike, or maybe I realise that I have already worked from my office, which is local at my house, since 2002. And in 2020 and 2021, the rest of the world's office building workers learnt how to work from their home offices. Why do we need cars, taxis and buses in any case? Do everything within walking distance, like in the old days?
